Refund Policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This page explains how billing, cancellations, and refunds work for Survey Bonobo subscriptions. It restates, in one place, the billing terms already in Sections 7 and 12 of our Terms of Service - if anything here and the Terms ever conflict, the Terms govern.
1. Fees already paid are generally non-refundable
Subscriptions are billed in advance for the billing period you choose (monthly or annually) and, except where required by applicable law, fees already paid are non-refundable - including for a partial billing period, unused AI credits, or a survey or feature you decide to stop using before your period ends.
This is the same rule that applies to most subscription software: you're paying for access to the Service for that period, not for a specific amount of usage within it.
2. The free tier is how you try before you pay - there is no free trial
Building, publishing, and collecting responses are free with no subscription at all, precisely so you can evaluate the Service before any charge happens. On the free tier, your account's first 100 responses each calendar month (or a higher limit we have granted you) are visible; responses beyond that are still collected and kept safely, and appear as soon as you subscribe or your limit is raised.
We no longer offer a free trial of paid Plans - the 7-day trial we used to offer has ended. When you choose a Plan, your first payment is charged at checkout and the subscription starts immediately, so the normal non-refundable rule in Section 1 applies from that point on. Try the free tier first if you're not sure a Plan is right for you.
If you cancel, or a payment isn't made, your account goes back to the free tier at the end of the period you paid for. Nothing is deleted.
3. Canceling a subscription
You can cancel any time from Settings or the billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not refund the period you're currently in. You keep access to paid features through the end of the billing period you already paid for.
When you go to cancel, we may offer you a discount to stay (for example, 15% off), sent to your account's email as a one-time code that works only on your account. Using it is optional and changes future charges only - it does not refund anything already paid. You can still cancel whenever you like, before or after using it.
4. When we will correct a charge
We will correct a charge that was genuinely our error - for example, a duplicate charge from a billing-system glitch, or a charge that went through after a cancellation we failed to process in time. Contact support with your account email and the charge in question, and we'll investigate and issue a correction where one is warranted.
Outside of a billing error, refunds are otherwise at our sole discretion and are the exception, not something you should expect as routine - the rule in Section 1 is the default.
5. Chargebacks and payment disputes
If you have a billing question or believe you were charged in error, please contact support first - most issues are resolved faster that way than through your card issuer or bank. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us first doesn't entitle you to continued access while it's investigated, and we may suspend or terminate the account involved while a dispute is open, consistent with Section 12 (Suspension and termination) of the Terms of Service.
Repeated or fraudulent chargebacks - for example, disputing a charge for a billing period you actively used the Service during, rather than requesting a correction - are treated as a violation of the Terms of Service in their own right and may result in losing access to the Service.
6. How to request a refund or correction
Contact us at [email protected] or (517) 314-9333 with your account email and the charge or billing period you're asking about.
